Base Camp Explorer
|
The Masai Mara ecosystem boasts one of the most diverse and
greatest concentrations of wildlife in East Africa. The large lion and cheetah
populations, combined with the spectacular wildebeest and zebra migration, provide
a unique game watching opportunity. The Mara is also a birdwatcher's haven for
many rare and exotic species.
The Camp
On the banks of the Talek River you will find the 15-tent
Base Camp Explorer, one of the
most ecologically friendly camps in Kenya. Both electricity and hot water are
generated using solar power. All the wastewater from the tents is used to water
over 3,000 trees and all the kitchen waste is separated and composted.
|
|
Base Camp Explorer provides individual tents designed to make your stay in the Mara
unforgettable. You can enjoy the privacy and the peace of your own veranda, while
the beautiful views of the Mara and the magical sounds of the African night soothe
your soul. The practical and appealing tent interiors, comfortable beds and hot
showers in your private bathroom further contribute to your feeling of well-being.

Ecotourism
Base Camp Explorer
is based on a fundamental respect for nature and its natural surroundings.
Take part in the dream and you will not only have memories of a lifetime, but
you will also help support the local communities and environment.

|
Working together with our Masai neighbors, researchers and environmental
organizations, the Camp offers entertaining and professional lectures on
wildlife and culture, as well as a visit to a Masai village.
The Camp's aims are to protect and learn from the African wilderness, to co-operate
with the local villages and to provide the ultimate in pleasure and safari adventure
to its guests.
